Inks Lake State Park

Friday Night

Kevin wasn't much on getting his picture taken this trip

So I set that 4-man tent up for me. Notice the wind... 40+ mph! Not a lot of warmth in there!

Reading the history of how the Texas State Parks started... through the CCC program.

Longhorn Cavern State Park: This was all built in the 1930s

I took some pics with the flash on and some without to show you how dark it was

This tour took about 1.5 hours. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to see something "unique" in Texas.

I didn't see it at the time, but now this looks like a chicken!

This crystal room is cool, but the crystals are lighted by colorful lights - so no, these aren't blue crystals.

The dam... they built numerous dams along the Colorado River in the 30's

One Tree Hill

Saturday morning after a HUGE thunderstorm the night before

I decided to break down the 4-man for this 2-man tent. Much warmer! Temps got down to 30 degrees.

Looking into the entrance of Longhorn Cavern

Going into the cavern. This is a natrual land bridge.

I was trying to get this picture without interuption... then this meddling kid got in my way!

This cavern is on a fault line and was formed by water.

Lots of deer near our campsite

Draining grease from the chili. This is Saturday night's dinner.

Cooking the foil packs

And yes, we burned all of this and THEN SOME

Quartz over this fireplace

This is where they have concerts on Saturday night

Not too bad to be short in here

This is a dumb waiter they use to bring stuff down. There were a few of these.

This was a castle "house" between Inks Lake and the Longhorn Caverns.

More grease
