Firewood for the weekend

My new tent

We cooked on the grill and in the
pit

Our view of the lake. We were up on
this ridge.

If you look closely, you'll see a
hole...

This is around 1pm on Saturday. I'm
getting ready for dinner.

We marinated one roast in some sort
of marinade, and the other (right) in a spicy tomato mixture.

Nobody was around us... we were the
only ones to camp! It was awesome!

Gathering the hot coals for the hole

Hot coals and hot rocks. We lined
the bottom with rocks...

More coals...

So we cooked our roast for 4 hours
in the hole. Oh, and that's the wood we used to keep warm for the
remainder of the day/night.

Our campsite is on the top of that
hill

But the sunset is cool...

David threw that rock over the limb
to attach a "working" light

It's about 7:30. So the roast has
been cooking for 4 hours...

So this is Sunday... do we look
redneck or what (or do I???)

So David and I pulled this from Oklahoma to Texas...
man, did we get some funny looks!

Deer... we saw a lot of deer and
turkeys.

Saturday "morning" cooking
Foil Packs

Jason digging the hole

Jason bought a pork roast - we
decided to cook it for our Saturday dinner. Now everyone knows a roast
should be "slow cooked."

This is basically how my Saturday
went... we sat around cooking the roast, drinking beer, and having great
conversations.

The hole...

In goes the pork roasts...

Then we covered it with the dirt.
This was around 3:30...

David discovered there is a problem
with his boat axle. Another reason we decided not to go fishing (besides
the cold temps and wind!)

Determining if it's done

Ta Da...

David's bearings
in the axle were toast. We decided to put a trailer
on a trailer with a boat.

This just cracks me up...

Taking it all in...

These are Bison foil packs

After Friday night, this is how much
we had left to burn. It was 28 degrees the night before.

Me preparing the pork roast

Me showing off the ingredients...
and "technique"

Pretty dang deep...

Covering it up with hot coals

All of the wood is gone...

Lake Eufala

I was trying to take pics of deer near our camp.

More light to dig out the roast

Here's one...

Does that look good or what???

Jason likes it

Strapping it on...

Oh, and I found a rock shaped like
the shape of Oklahoma...
"OK!!!"
